2026 - 2027 Common App Essay Prompts
It’s a great time to write the Common App essay! Here are the prompts for the coming year. Many students struggle to choose a topic for the essay. A good strategy is to make a list of all the things admissions officers will learn about you from the other parts of the application (including grades, classes, and activities). Write a list of characteristics you want readers to learn about you. For example are you persistent, intellectual, funny? List some anecdotes that evidence those characteristics. After these steps, review the prompts and see which one fits your personal narrative.
